The common pattern looks like this. Someone buys licences for a chat tool, a few people use it for emails, and six months later nothing about how the company works has actually changed. Meanwhile a genuinely useful use case, usually something dull involving documents or repetitive checks, sits untouched because nobody recognised it.

    Documentation and research, emails and communication, document analysis, decision support and reports, repetitive processes with semi-structured data, customer support, HR, sales, operations.

    Real Industry Examples
    RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), classification and object detection, simple automation, an example of AI used poorly. Risks: data privacy, GDPR, hallucinations, vendor lock-in, adoption challenges.
